Last Wednesday the PYP 3/4 went to the Meteorological Center (BMKG) which is located at Jalan Ngumban Surbakti Medan.
As the students stepped into the Meteorological center office, they were greeted by a symphony of computer screens and meteorological instruments. The students were excited to uncover the mysteries of weather patterns that have far-reaching implications for our daily lives.
The students were introduced to a team of seasoned meteorologists who generously shared their knowledge and experiences. Conversations sparked as students inquired about weather forecasting, the tools used in meteorological research, and the challenges faced by professionals in the field.
The students understood the connections between weather forecasting and daily life. As Aleksi said, “The importance of studying weather forecasts is that we know what clothes we wear and what activities we do, if it rains or sunny.”
A highlight of the day included a visit to the Meteorological equipment park where students could see proper weather measuring equipment and how they work. This experience reinforced the importance of direct observations in understanding weather dynamics.
