Batik: A Proud Symbol of Indonesia
Marking the anniversary of when UNESCO inscribed Batik, originally from Indonesia, as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2009, MIS Teachers, staff and students wore Batik at school on Batik Day, 2 October 2024.
Batik is more than just fabric—it’s a beautiful expression of Indonesia’s rich heritage. 🇮🇩 Representing Indonesia strongly, Batik holds a special place in our culture and history. It’s something that Indonesians proudly wear during various international events, showcasing the artistry and tradition of our nation to the world.
As a cultural treasure, Batik is something we strive to preserve, maintain, and nurture for future generations. The art of making Batik has also evolved, with many exciting developments in its designs, patterns, and techniques. Yet, it continues to honor its roots, celebrating both innovation and tradition.
