By Jason Pringle, MYP/DP Teacher
Congratulations to Dana Sufiya Shahril Nizam and Sienna Gaetano, two of Medan Independent School’s talented writers, for their outstanding achievements in the Immerse Education Essay Competition. This prestigious global competition recognises exceptional student writing, and we are incredibly proud that these two students were selected for recognition in the most recent round.
This round of the competition attracted submissions from students representing more than 5,000 schools across 150 countries, making the achievements of our students even more remarkable.
We are delighted to share their results:
- Dana Sufiya Shahril Nizam (MYP 4) – Scholar’s Laureate
- Sienna Gaetano (DP 2) – Honours List
Both students demonstrated remarkable academic curiosity, strong research skills, and a willingness to engage deeply with challenging, real-world topics. Their success reflects not only their dedication but also the supportive learning environment fostered by our school community.
Since its launch, the Immerse Education Essay Competition has provided valuable pathways for student growth through a range of awards and opportunities. These include:
- Publication opportunities
- Verified academic credentials
- Exclusive academic workshops
- Full or partial scholarships to world-class pre-university programmes, including those held at Oxford, Cambridge, and London
We are thrilled that MIS students were featured among this global cohort of young scholars and were recognised for their outstanding participation and achievement.
Students interested in participating in future rounds of the Immerse Education Essay Competition are encouraged to explore upcoming opportunities. Beyond the chance for recognition, the competition offers meaningful academic enrichment, inviting students to explore university-level topics, strengthen their writing skills, and engage with issues that matter in today’s world.
We look forward to celebrating even more MIS writers in the next round!
